One-to-one bespoke training available at PAWS SOLUTIONS is delivered by Head Stylist and Master Dog Groomer Wei Chen MCG for existing professional dog groomers who are looking to up-skill. Wei has several years experience in training dog groomers of all experience levels.

Training takes place in the PAWS SOLUTIONS salons located in Palmerstown Village or Maypark Donnycarney in our modern salons. You need to prepare a suitable breed of dog for the training day.

Training days are available on Sunday and Monday only.

Individual training starts from €300/per day, or group 4 max with €250/per day.

Advanced: Asian Style Model Dog Head Workshop

Asian Style on a model dog head session max 4 people. This course is designed for experienced groomers. The fee is €200 for the day and, you will get a model head with a wig free. (Model and wig cost €45). Excellent to display in the salon counter.
Free refreshments tea and coffee provided. Extra wigs and model dogs are available for purchase on the day.
1 style will be practiced in the morning with all the concept drawings.
Another style in the afternoon after lunch. If time allowed, we will go for a creative style with visual art. Please bring your own scissors and brush / comb.

Higher Advanced: Asian Style Model Dog Workshop

Asian Style on a model dog session max 4 people. This course is designed for experienced groomers. The fee is €300 for the day and, you will get a full body model with a wig free. (Model and wig cost €100). Excellent to display in the salon counter. Bichon Frise or Toy Poodle
Free refreshment tea and coffee provided. Extra wigs and model dogs are available for purchase on the day.
1 style will be practiced with all the concept drawings. Please bring your own scissors and brush / comb.

Basic: OCN NI Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Dog Grooming and Salon Management

Basic Pet Grooming (for beginners)

Duration: 15 days Flexible time schedule

Cost: €3600 (including groomer starter pack), you can pay in full or a payment plan can be arranged.

Entry requirments: must be fluent in English (verbal & written), must have a good understanding of leaving cert level education, must be computer literate. You do not need any prior dog grooming related qualifications or do not need prior dog grooming experience.

Learn to be a good Junior in a salon grooming dogs or start your own career. Perfect for school leavers considering a career in animal care.

Covering basic pet clips styling bathing, drying/prep, ears and nails ie: smooth and double coats deshedding/undercoat removal, trimming and thinning of double coats. Non clipped ie: retrievers/collies etc,  clips offs, matted coat, basic clipped Westie/spaniel /schnauzers with clipped body and skirts etc, teddy trim eg: ShihTzu, Cockapoo etc.

Weekly assessment, practical & theory tests.

FAST TRACKER OPTION AVAILABLE

Basic: Ocn NI Level 3 Professional Diploma in Clipping, styling, handstripping, Business & Salon Management, Pet Cpr and first-aid

Duration: 20 intensive hands on practical lessons approx 3-3.5hrs plus 50 hrs homestudy via our online eportfolio system

Availability: mon-fri by arrangement tailored to suit available all year round. Lessons run: mon-fri 9.45am to approx 1/1.30pm.

Qualification: Ocn Ni Level 3 Diploma in Commercial Dog Grooming, Animal Welfare , Salon/business Management and Pet first-aid and cpcr

Certification: This is a nationally and industry recognised qualification which is on the Regulated Qualification Framework

Course Description: This is an intensive practical hands-on grooming course taught personally by Wei Chen with a maximum of 4 students on any one training day, all students will work from their own workstations on our range of training dogs (you may bring dogs by prior arrangement but this is not required) and will be taught on a 1:1 basis for practical parts on each dog completing one dog from start to finish throughout the intensive hands-on lessons and this will be backed up with theory and learner journal each lesson. The course will cover all the basic commercial pet grooming skills including: bathing, drying, de-matting, clipping, ear & nail care and also covers handling and restraint, safe use of tools and restraints. The course starts with basic everyday commercial pet trims for popular breeds and then goes on to cover advanced grooming and styling including scissoring/thinning/hand-stripping and a wider range of commercial breed styling to enable a beginner to start grooming all breeds and learn how to adapt styles and techniques to suit all breeds in a commercial grooming salon to both owner/breed requirements. You will also cover salon management and equipment care and business start-up, equipment set-up, pricing etc giving you sample disclaimers and templates and 10 hrs online pet first-aid and cpcr training taught by vet Sophie Bell to gain the pet first aid qualification alongside the grooming qualification.

Qualification and assessment: Students will achieve OCNNI Level 3 Diploma in Commercial dog grooming, animal welfare and salon/business management on successful completion of the course and pet first aid and CPCR certification. Coursework involves building a portfolio of evidence of practical work throughout training and some short answer assignments with no scary exams

Pet first-aid and cpcr certification

Membership of The Guild Of Pet Grooming Professionals on successful completion of the course with window sticker and use of APCG- Advanced Professional Certified Groomer Post nominal

Payment Plan:

2 installments can be made first one must be 7 days before the course start date and second payment will be no later than 3rd week after the course start date. 

OCN NI level 3  relevant to QQI Level 5 in Ireland.
